Greek Beauty
It's no secret that the standards of beauty are relative to location, culture, and time. But what is amazing is this almost unbroken legacy of beauty and fashion the world seems to have. We know what the Ancient Greeks wore. We know what court dress during the Han Dynasty was like. Though we know what ancient and more recent periods wore, sometimes I wish we had more examples of the following:
a) Clothing from Dynasty XII (Ancient Egypt)
b) Gym gear from Flavian Rome
c) Renaissance hosiery
d) Clothing from the first caliphates
For all of the changes and differences in adornment, the impulse to decorate the human figure remains timeless.
